The City of Vancouver has published its plan for traffic calming in the Hastings-Sunrise area bounded by E. Hastings St, E. 1st Avenue, Nanaimo and Renfrew streets. These measures will be implemented in Spring 2025.
With this plan the City hopes that we will have fewer commuters cutting through, lower vehicle speeds, and safer streets for walkers and cyclists. On the flip side, it will also mean fewer parking spots on some streets, and it will make it more difficult for many of us to get to and from our homes.

In the City’s Implementation Plan document, you can see how the new plans compare with the original proposals shared with the neighbourhood in late 2023.

As you can see the City made a number of changes based on feedback from the neighbourhood.
More changes are possible.
The City says “Once installed, traffic calming measures will be monitored, adjusted or removed if needed“.
